| DAVID PATTERSON'S FAMILY WEB Introduction Welcome, this is the author of this web site, and a descendant of David Patterson. Others have done most of the research on the Patterson family, my contribution is the construction of this web site, the easy part. Researching the past is often difficult and the facts are sometimes vague. One of the reasons for posting this site is to allow 'YOU' to make comments and contribute to the accuracy. I've tried to keep things relatively simple, in order for the pages to load quicker. I've placed no Copyright on this site, if it's useful help yourself. Please enjoy.
Although, this site is is
primarily the Patterson surname, readers will find many other linked
families. David Patterson (born Paterson) David is the first male of my family (direct lineage) to immigrate to Australia, he arrived in Swan River Western Australia (WA) from London, aboard the 'Caroline', on 12 October 1829: Caroline Passenger List. It should be noted, on the manifest he is named Daniel T Patterson. This is probably a clerical error. The name changing of 'pioneers' seemed to be a common practice, and certainly the last name of Patterson was spelt Paterson (single 'T') prior to his arrival in Australia (this was very common practice). He was born in Dovecotland Scotland to David Paterson and Jean Taylor, in 1802. Marion Horspool In March 1832 David married Marion Horspool they had 9 children. Marion, age 16, arrived in Swan River Western Australia from London, aboard the 'Lotus', on 23 October 1829: Lotus Passenger List. She traveled with her brother, John Horspool. From Western Australia to Victoria David remained in WA until the news of gold discoveries in Victoria induced him to try his fortune in the goldfields. His family joined him at Brown Hill in 1858: Library Board of WA. R.I.P David died at Ballarat Victoria on 27 August 1886: Gravestone Cemetery Plot David Patterson, a Brief History THIS SITE IS ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION REFRESH YOUR PAGE FOR THE LATEST VERSION |
